2020 Organic Vision Pinot Noir Rosé
ORGANIC, VEGAN, GLUTEN-FREE
We love Rosé... so why have we made our best as a result of adversity? Our first Rosé, made in 2013, was in response to a devastating hail-storm that crippled our vines in August just a month before harvest. The results were stunning so we continued harvesting our high elevation Pinot Noir clone 828 for Rosé each vintage.
The Okanagan is famous for its sunshine and moderate weather, but we often forget that our vineyards sit just below the 50th parallel. If we were anywhere else in Canada, or in the world for that matter, we'd be growing tundra vegetation not fine wine. Working our vines in this northerly situation means that we risk weather events that can be dramatic. January of 2020 was one of those rare winters where we saw a deep freeze come into our vineyard and take a -20 C grip on the vines for a week. Thankfully the the vines survived but our crop was reduced to 24% of normal.
Organic Vision Series Rosé - made from Pinot Noir clone 777, this block is favoured for its slightly darker skinned berries and strawberry and bramble fruit aromas. Hand harvested grapes were gently whole cluster pressed, and fermented in two barrels. Bottled dry in March under screw cap to capture the fresh berry profile of this west facing block of vines. Enjoy as a starter and continue into your main with herb infused, steamed mussels or your favourite seasonal risotto. Yummm!
