It's been a chilly sping! But as tried and true Canadians, we weather the storm or cold with a smile, and perhaps a great glass of wine beside the fire as we try and warm up, convincing ourselves that it is in fact, camping season, rain or no rain!
We choose these three wines with all of this in mind. They'll be refreshing when the sun is shining and warm you up when the chill sets in.
2017 Vision Chardonnay
Wild yeast fermented, rich wine of character. Label art by Ann's daughter, Lauren Gamble. Our Chardonnay vines are grown on deep, calcium-rich clay soils with ultra-fine limestone particles. Our deeply rooted vines find their own water and nutrients while capturing the essence of the vintage.
Select blocks were hand-harvested on cool September mornings at 13% potential alcohol. Gently whole cluster pressed; settles juice is transferred to 500L French oak puncheons to wild ferment and complete a native malolactic fermentation. Select barrels were blended and bottled after 11 months of aging on lees. Batonnage was employed 6 times during barrel aging.
Ruby Pet Nat
Yes, an organic RED bubbly! It's lively, fresh, and slightly effervescent! "This has become my favourite pizza wine or other casual meals. It's lively and fresh with lots of mouth filling yet light flavours." -Winemaker, Ann Sperling.
For the 2020 growing season, we modified the pruning in our Old Vines Marechal Foch by moving all the fruiting canes to the top wire, therefore re-focusing the vine's energy. We found that the berry flavours became much more prominent, particularly blueberry. We fermented whole clusters and berries for 5 days, then pressed, and blended in a bit of Pinot Noir.
2018 Pinot Noir

The tension, authenticity and purity of flavour is notable. Showing gentle maturity and a delightful textural mouthfeel, this pinot noir also has enough acidity to see it into the next half decade. Planted in 2008 on blocks noted for their calcium-limestone rich clay soils, three Dijon clones (114, 777, 828) were planted on three different rootstocks (10114, 3309 & Paulson) with Pinot Noir clones planted totalling 8.5 acres on two benches and nearly every facet of our hillside vineyard, we select the best suited sites each vintage for Red. Fermented in 1 and 4 tonne lots, including 40% whole clusters, hand-picked and sorted fruit is wild fermented to both alcoholic and malolactic dryness, then barrel aged in large format (265, 300 & 500 L) French oak barrels, with a tiny percentage of new wood.
